How to add music to instagram stories

Lots of people have asked how to add music to their Instagram Stories. Maybe you have seen some stories with background music on it, and you wondered how?

The thing is, 

Instagram won’t pause your phone’s audio while you are recording a video, which is the key to this tip.
The other important thing is timing. As you press the record button on Instagram, it starts listening, not only to you but to whatever music which is playing on your phone.

The step by step tip to share music on your story:

  1.  Open your favorite music player and play the song you want to record a story with it.
  2.  choose the part of the song that you want to play by using the time bar on your music player and press pause. If you’d like to play it at the right moment, choose one or two seconds before the point you’d like to use in the story.
  3.  Open the Instagram app and tap the camera icon to open up the camera for Stories.
  4.  Bring up Control Center by swiping your screen up. Then, swipe left to open music preferences, and tap Play.
  5. close Control Center immediately and start your recording inside of Instagram.
  6. Tap the plus icon to add the video to your Instagram Story.


That’s it! 

It’s that simple. One thing I found out is that you’ll want to keep an eye on where your finger is when you’re holding your phone and recording. The music you’re trying to record is coming from your phone, so if your finger is covering the lower speaker, it might sound a little washy.
